We are over the moon with gratitude to the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival for awarding Penny from Heaven Screenplay Showcase Winner! 🌟🐾
This little screenplay about a mischievous pup-turned-angel-in-training has always been a story close to my heart. To see it shared with audiences who love family-friendly stories as much as we do is truly a dream come true. Festivals like SDIKFF remind us why we tell stories in the first place: to spark joy, hope, and maybe even a little heavenly mischief in kids (and kids at heart) all over the world.
A huge round of applause and heartfelt kudos to Director Deb Zimmer, who brought this tale to life in a way that exceeded every expectation. Deb pulled together an incredible cast for the table read — their voices, energy, and spirit lifted Penny right off the page and into our imaginations. Watching the characters breathe and play in the room was nothing short of magical.
The entire experience was fabulous — a reminder that storytelling is a team effort, and when talented, passionate people come together, something extraordinary happens.
